An introductory module for tertiary educators exploring AI literacy, confidence, and cultural integrity in practice. This course is part of AI for Good, a framework for growing professional practice that centres AI fluency in ako, whanaungatanga, and mana-enhancing learning, while building the confidence, capability, and shared responsibility we need for ethical AI use.

About AI for Tertiary Educators

AI for Tertiary is created by Graeme Smith and Liza Kohunui in partnership with AI for Good (NZ).

Through our curated learning collections, we aim to bridge the gap between AI technology and education, fostering a community of informed users who can navigate the evolving digital landscape with confidence.

Graeme Smith

Graeme Smith is an educator, strategist, and designer of AI-enhanced learning systems. With over 20 years’ experience in post-secondary education and capability building across Aotearoa, he specialises in turning complex ideas into practical, culturally grounded frameworks. Within the AI For Good education stream, Graeme helps shape the design of learning pathways and provides strategic guidance to partners across government, industry, and iwi on the responsible and confident integration of generative AI.

Liza Kohunui

Liza Kohunui is a Māori educator and learning designer with over a decade of experience in tertiary education. She is passionate about creating inclusive and culturally responsive learning experiences that empower learners to thrive in a digital world. As part of the AI For Good education team, Liza focuses on integrating mātauranga Māori perspectives into AI literacy initiatives, ensuring that the development and use of AI technologies respect and uphold Māori values and principles.
